1 · Search the map
Type a city, county, or address in the search box and press Go — e.g. Houston, Travis County, Los Angeles, CA, Miami-Dade. The map flies there.
2 · Click any county
Every county opens a popup with everything the atlas has for that place. Depth varies by state:
- Texas — full detail: crime (2024 + 2020–2024 trend), health & poverty context, year-by-year, your representatives (US + TX), federal money, drug overdoses.
- California & Florida — summary, health context, US representatives, federal money, drug overdoses. California also includes CA DOJ crime by year.
- All other states — federal spending by fiscal year + drug overdose deaths (the two nationwide keyless datasets).
3 · Recolor the map
In the 📋 panel (top-left), use County fill indicator to color every county by 40+ measures — violent crime, poverty, obesity, housing burden, unemployment, and more. The legend updates automatically. Gray = no data for that indicator.
4 · Layers
Toggle agency crime circles, fast food, grocery, liquor stores, Epstein files, and county boundaries with the checkboxes in the 📋 panel.
5 · Your representatives
In a county popup, open 🏛️ Your Representatives, then use 📰 News · 🗳️ Votes · 💼 Finances to see each member's record and campaign money.
6 · Panels & legend
The 📋 Data Layers & Sources panel (top-left) holds all toggles and sources — close it with × and reopen it from the 📋 control on the map. The legend (bottom-right) explains the current fill colors.
Data & limitations
All data is embedded in this page — no backend. Sources: TxDPS, CA DOJ OpenJustice, CHR 2025, CDC VSRR, USAspending, Congress-Legislators, FEC, OSM. Non-TX/CA/FL states are thinner because most states don't publish open county-level crime/health files.
